1.
Share 1 thing that stood out to you about Sunday's Message. (1 minute max please) Also press play button in image above to watch or listen to Sundays message if you missed it or just to refresh your memory. (Each Individual)
2. External Knowledge vs Internal Knowledge
1 Corinthians 2:10-11
10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
On Sunday Pastor Vaughn said “Your spirit knows you in a way that no-one else is capable of knowing you”. He asked how many times have you wished the people closest to you really understood you or heard you or could feel what you feel?
How “known do you feel by the people in your life? How big is the gap between how you know yourself and how others know you? How does this make you feel? (Each Individual)
Matthew 11:27
27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Considering that we can “know” God in the way we wish people knew us, how well do you “know” God? Do you believe that Jesus can and desires for you to know the Father? How big do you think the gap is between how well you know God and how well you could know Him? What are the reasons for this small or big gap? (Each Individual)
3. Babies vs Grown Ups
1 Corinthians 3:1-3
1 But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, 3 for you are still of the flesh.
On Sunday Pastor Vaughn said “Being in process is fine and its expected because we all have to start somewhere”. He told us that it takes time to grow & mature but progress is always expected in the kingdom so we all have to go from milk to solid food at some point. We also have to become more led by the Spirit than the flesh overtime.
Hebrews 6:1-3
1 Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity/perfection, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits.
Spiritually, are we a group that is majority milk drinkers or majority solid food eaters? How can we continue to grow as a group? Are we striving for “perfection” or satisfied with where we are? Does the list in Hebrews 6 above feel like “elementary” or “advanced studies”? If what Paul described as elementary in his day is often only expected of Pastors or leaders in our day what does that say about the overall spirituality of the church? Why was this so important for God to share through Paul with the church in Corinth? (Group Discussion - Questions above to be considered as part of the discussion)
