2. The Way Is Non Transferable
Acts 19:13-15
13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” 14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. 15 But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?”
On Sunday Pastor Vaughn talked about the 7 sons of Sceva trying to cast out demons and why they were unsuccessful. They believed in Jesus and they wanted to help people who were suffering and oppressed/possessed. Believing in Jesus and knowing that He is powerful is not the same as experiencing the reality of Jesus being alive in your life and recognizing that there is a power alive inside of you. Believing that God has done things in and through other people is not the same as experiencing the ways that God has moved through you.
How would you describe the difference between believing in God and experiencing God? What are some experiences you've had where you know God was moving in you and through you? How can we move from believing in God to experiencing God if we have not already? (Group Discussion)
3. Discipleship 101 - The Way More Accurately
On Sunday Pastor Vaughn read portions of the Discipleship 101 Course devotionals as we looked at Apollos' relationship with Aquila and Priscilla as well as Paul's relationship with the 12 disciples he found in Ephesus. Apollos and the 12 disciples needed The Way of God to be explained to them more accurately and then to be walked with as they lived out The Way.
Everyone pick a day from the Discipleship 101 Course in the App and after reading it share your thoughts with the group. A. Tell the group what the scripture was about B.
