On Sunday Pastor Gary talked about the "Palm Waivers" worshipping the wrong king. Although they were in the right place and they were crying out "Hosanna Hosanna" the problem was that they expected Jesus to do things that He wasn't planning to do. At least He wasn't planning to do those things in the way they expected.

Matthew 20:8-15

8 And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’ 9 And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12 saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’ 13 But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. 15 Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me?

Have you worshipped the wrong king at times by having expectations of Jesus that you shouldn't? If so when or how? What did Jesus do or teach you about Himself and yourself through those experiences? How do we prevent ourselves and others from worshipping the wrong king and having the wrong expectations of God? (Group Discussion)

On Sunday Pastor Gary talked about the disciples thinking Palm Sunday was just another Sunday and because of that they didn't realize it was the last Sunday before Jesus would be taken from them and crucified. He encouraged us to know what time it is and to understand moments & seasons as we walk with Jesus. Pastor Gary told us that if we don't do this we can even find ourselves working against God when we are trying to serve Him.

Matthew 26:6-12

6 Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table. 8 And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 9 For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. 12 In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial.

Matthew 16:21-23

21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

Have you experienced situations where you look back now and realize you didn't know what time it was and what God was doing? (Each Individual)

What are some of the different types of times or seasons or moments that individual Christians and the collective church go through with God over the course of a year? How are they different? What should we be looking for in some of these particular times? How can we be more aware of the differences? (Group Discussion)
