On Sunday Pastor Vaughn talked about being "Guilty but not guilty but guilty". We looked at how Joseph's brothers hadn't taken their money back purposely and they didn't take Joseph's silver cup either. However, they had thrown Joseph into a pit and sold him into slavery, and they did leave Simeon as a prisoner while they ate and slept comfortably. They also lied to their father about Jospeh's initial fate and the list goes on and on. So while they were not guilty in some areas they were definitely guilty in others. Pastor Vaughn drew particular attention to the fact that in this story Benjamin, who was the one found with the silver cup in his possession, was actually not guilty of stealing it but he didn't defend his innocence or fight for his life or freedom.

What are we supposed to take from this idea of being guilty but not guilty but guilty? What do you do when you're accused of something you're "not guilty" of? Should we consider other areas where we are "guilty" when dealing with areas where we are "not guilty"? If so, how? Does one impact the other or are they completely separate? How do you think God looks at you when it comes to all of the areas where you are guilty and not guilty? What does God expect from Christians when dealing with the reality in our lives that we are always guilty but not guilty but guilty? (Group Discussion)

Genesis 45:4

4 So Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” And they came near. And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.

Acts 9:5

5 And he/Paul said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

Matthew 11:27

no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

On Sunday Pastor Vaughn talked about the importance of "revelation". Unless Joseph reveals himself to his brothers they will never know him and the same is true with Jesus. Unless Jesus reveals Himself to us we will never be able to know Him. The good news is that Jesus is more than happy to reveal Himself and the Father to us through the Holy Spirit!

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit.

How did God reveal Himself in the Old Testament? How did God reveal Himself in the New Testament? (Group Discussion)

How did God initially reveal Himself to you? How has God continued to reveal Himself to you? (Each Individual)

What does all of this mean for those who Jesus hasn't been revealed to yet? (Group Discussion)
